Unsettled is an interactive feather installation that responds to the presence of viewers using ultrasonic sensors and servo motors. Suspended bundles of feathers hang from a 24.8 x 42-inch wooden canvas mounted to the wall. As someone approaches, the installation shifts from stillness to motion, soft, irregular gestures that change depending on how close the viewer gets. The farther away, the calmer the response. The closer they move, the more unpredictable and charged the movement becomes.

The piece is not meant to entertain or comfort. Instead, it evokes a sense of presence, disturbance, and emotional ambiguity. The feathers move like breath, sometimes slow and barely perceptible, sometimes tense and chaotic. Unsettled reflects on cultural memory, resistance, and the spiritual aftermath of colonial violence, using responsive motion to hold space for what still lingers.
